Volkshotel is a place to rest, or not sleep at all. Where nothing is standard, not even our standard room. Take a room perfect for one or big enough for all. Be invisible or visible. Drink cocktails or tea. From basement to rooftop, whatever the reason, we’ve got you covered.

Our Hotel

Volkshotel was once a newspaper headquarters, now home to 172 hotel rooms, ranging from cosy hideouts to huge hangouts. Stay in a bed with a view or in one of our nine special rooms. Raw materials of wood, glass, concrete and always a hint of history.

All our rooms include the following:

  • Free Wifi

  • Shower

  • Safe

  • Hairdryer

  • Miss Petite

This is our smallest but maybe finest, most affordable room. Only 12m2, it’s quite tiny, with a double bed, a shower and toilet, what else do you need? Well, maybe a tv and a safe are a nice addition. So there you have it, small and sweet.

    • TV
  • Sir Standard

Bigger than Miss Petite with a double bed and 18m2 there's enough room to do the Waltz (or roly poly). Not much else to say, just the perfect kind of ‘standard’.

    • 2 persons

    • TV
  • Sir Standard's Sister

The same features as Sir Standard, but with 2 single mattresses. Because sleeping in one bed can be a bit too cosy when spending the night with your dad, colleague or gardener.

    • TV
  • Ms. Big

Ms. Big is big hearted, the family type or the one to entertain your friends. This room has a bed that hangs from the ceiling, but try not to argue over who sleeps where, all of Ms. Big’s beds are comfy. At 29m2, Ms. Big is pretty large.

  • Mrs. Massive

Now let us introduce Mrs. Massive, the perfect host for the family, friends or rock band. This room isn’t just big, at 45m2, it’s massive. So large even the cupboard is big enough for a double bed. As we like to keep traditions we made it into a Dutch ‘bedstee’ with windows. Mrs. Massive has two bathrooms: one with a shower and one with a bath.

  • Madam Miva

Madam Miva is there to help. This 35m2 room is equipped with all the necessary aids. With a wheelchair accessible bathroom, one double bed and one single, there’s enough room for everyone. Please contact reservations@volkshotel.nl if you want to book this room.

  • Cinema Boudoir

Slip into a bathrobe or some stockings. Lie in the four poster bath or get cosy in bed. Bordeaux red, velvet and satin, intimate and sexy. In this private cinema boudoir you can see the movie from anywhere, maybe let the genre decide the setting.

Connect your laptop to our beamer and watch your favourite movie on a big screen.

  • Soixante Neuf

The name speaks for itself. A room full of temptation. A bed suspended from the ceiling, a podium with a bath for one or two. Illusion and mystery come together. A room you may not want to leave.

  • Danny’s Room

Danny may come across a little stiff, but that is not the case, he’s a friendly socialite and his room is full of fun and jokes. Inspired by vintage and typical ‘old dutch’ with a mix of colours you couldn’t imagine. Sleep in his giant fruit crate, awaken feeling fresh and ‘fruity’. We forgot to mention, Danny is a Deer.

  • Cabin in the Woods

Feel at one with nature. You can hibernate anywhere; a cabin, a treehouse or a hammock. Wash in the wild. Outside comes inside. Like camping in a hotel room except really comfortable and without scary wild animals. Use this room as you want, free to explore.

  • Johnny Jukebox

The place for music lovers. Nothing in this room is straightforward, geometrical shapes that fall or rise, like being inside a jukebox. Equipped with surround sound and a big music collection of vinyl, cds, even the good old cassette. Chill in the corner by the window or dance in the bath. You decide, you’re the DJ.

The room for the intrepid adventurers. Sleep in a hollow bay, shower under a waterfall and bath on top of a mountain among a cactus garden. Climb to the top and plant your flag, it’s only a little bit smaller than Mount Everest.

  • White Bike Room

There’s nothing more Dutch than a bike, well, except tulips and wooden shoes, but they’re not as exciting. This room is dedicated to the Dutch love for bikes. All parts of a bike are utilised around the room, you even sleep in a big bakfiets (a dutch bike cart). This room comes with two white bicycles to cycle around Amsterdam. Now you really will go Dutch.
