Folk: Floor van Dijck

Broedplaats

As a freelance journalist, Floor van Dijck joined ‘Bureau Wibaut’ a group of journalists that shares an entresol in our creative hub on the ground floor and she can always make time for a Vodka-Tonic.

Where do you come from?
I was born in Amsterdam, and raised on a peninsula in the Ijsselmeer (a large lake in Central Netherlands). I studied in Utrecht, but ended up in Amsterdam again, I’ve been living here for a few years now.

What projects are you working on?
I am working on a couple of articles for different clients. I am also writing new songs with my band The Spinshots..

What is your connection to the Volkshotel building?
I am part of Bureau Wibaut, a group of journalists that is based on the ground floor. Next to that I have band rehearsals in one of the basement studios every week.

How would you describe the collaboration with other creatives?
Once a month, all the creatives and Volkshotel employees get together for a drink. This is the ultimate chance for a journalist to find out about interesting stuff other people are working on. And of course, it works the other way around, we can provide free publicity for them.

Could you describe the future you envision for the Volkshotel?
I’ve got no idea, but I do like the prospect of spending time in the rooftop hot tubs!

Last chance… what question did we forgot to ask you?
Would you like a vodka-tonic?
