Lotte was primarily involved in the design of furniture, industrial products and interiors. This Haarlemer is now a New York City girl, Lotte relocated last summer to The Big Apple.
Lotte: “ I currently work for a small design studio in New York which focuses on industrial design, but the projects range from furniture to electronic products. This summer I made the choice to trade Amsterdam for this city and when I arrived I landed on my feet with this job. It is a mega energetic city, I really enjoy it.”
Bas van Tol who is Volkshotel’s interior architect connected Lotte with the hotel. He was her professor at the Design Academy, Eindhoven and asked her along with some others from the academy to join the creative team.
” I have been able to get to know a very nice group of people in 5 months. I found this one of the most special aspects of the project, working with so many people who have come up with concepts for this hotel in a very free and personal way. “
The best memory that Lotte had was the kick-off trip to Berlin and Paris. The whole group visited the Michel Berger Hotel Berlin and the Mama Shelter Hotel, Paris, interspersed with workshops and lots of fun.
” I am very curious about the results after the remodelling is finished, I think it’s a fantastically cool place. An inspiring, accessible, free and vibrant place to spend a lot of time, its exactly what Amsterdam needs. I can not wait to eat on the ground floor, dance on the roof, get drunk in the basement and sleep in Volkshotel!”
