The following exhibitions are on at the moment:
‘View my interior – exterior’ by Friso Spoelstra in Werkplaats.
Photographer Friso Spoelstra gives a glimpse into the floating livingrooms of Amsterdam. Friso entered over a hundred houseboats to get to know their inhabitants. Along with writer Jowi Schmitz he spent days and days on board collecting stories and images which they bundled in photobook ‘Boat People of Amsterdam’.
‘Peter’ by Michael Floor on the 7th and 8th floor.
Photographer Michael Floor searches for the odd and unusual, and is fascinated by the darker, alienated site of life. For this series he followed a man named Peter. Despite his rough appearance, Peter is sympathetic, kind and loyal. But he has lived a turbulent life full of extremes. He used to be a gangster, surrounded by Amsterdam’s biggest criminals. Later he became a social worker, running a youth hangout by himself. Now he’s retired and lives in a trailer near Amsterdam or in his second home, a small farmhouse in rural France.
‘Selfies’, a collection by Richard Veen in Werkplaats.
Ever met your idol and couldn’t resist the urge to take a selfie with him or her? Richard Veen understands you. Or better yet: he takes his fandom to the next level. He’s been taking selfies with famous Dutchies for almost 25 years now, resulting in a selfie collection that would even make Kim Kardashian jealous.
The exhibitions can be visited every day of the week.
