The following exhibitions are on at the moment:
‘Canned Sardines Collection’ by Fred in Werkplaats.
Fred has a hard time throwing beautiful packaging away. That’s how his canned sardines collection started about 40 years ago. Everytime Fred goes abroad, he goes to the local supermarkets to check out what cans they have. The beauty of collecting these cans? The collection is never completed.
‘Saturday Morning’ by Marijn Scheeres in Werkplaats
Marijn Scheeres (1972) has been photographing Amsterdammers during their morning routine every Saturday for over nine years. Her photos are published as a weekly column in newspaper het Parool. Every Saturday she captures intimate moments with families, students, young couples or singles who live in Amsterdam.
‘The Cabin’ by Iris Frankhuizen, Mirjam Debets en Wilbrand on the 7th and 8th floor.
Not one, but three expositions this time. Animators Iris, Mirjam and Wilbrand share a studio in Broedplaats, the back wing of Volkshotel and showcase their work here for the first time. Iris takes us away to an unknown planet. Mirjam got inspired by this building, making images of Canvas, broedplaats and Badplaats. On the stairway to our 8th floor, you can see Wilbrand’s work.
The exhibitions can be visited every day of the week.
