The following exhibitions are on at the moment:
‘Aprés CoBrA’ by Nico Koster In Werkplaats.
Award-winning photographer Nico Koster (1940) made his first photos for De Telegraaf newspaper. As a photo-reporter, he captured social, political and sportive subjects. The photo series for the ‘Bed-in for Peace’ protest by Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Hilton Hotel, became his big break. He captured numerous other legendary artists afterwards, such as Chagall and David Bowie. In his exhibition Aprés CoBrA, Koster shows some of the (unpublished) highlights of his career.
Paintings by Jean-Philippe Paumier on the 7th and 8th floor.
In these exposition Jean-Philippe showcases two of his projects that made in his studio in Broedplaats in the back wing of Volkshotel. With ‘Déjà vu’, he painted cliché and iconic objects from American pop culture with acrylic paint. His work proposes to examine objects at another level, breaking down the object’s obviousness and allow the viewer to refresh his or her look. Jean-Philippe was inspired by the clichés in American films, images he became obsessed with while watching many classic movies and their almost mythological imagery.
The exhibitions can be visited every day of the week.
