Hortus Botanicus
The Hortus Botanicus is a massive, historic jungle sitting right in the middle of the city. The outdoor gardens are waking up, the greenhouses are warm, and it’s the perfect spot to kill an afternoon in absolute peace. Treat yourself to some actual oxygen.
ARTIS
Artis is a classic, but this spring, a visit is absolutely mandatory. The elephant family just expanded by two calves, and they’re already out there stretching their legs. Take a walk through the animal kingdom, grab a coffee, and go see the newest heavyweights in Amsterdam for yourself
Het Amsterdamse Bos
You want to do spring right? Head out to the Amsterdamse Bos. You got miles of forest, water to rent a boat, and those famous spring cherry blossoms coming into full bloom. Got the family? Throw the kids at the goat farm for a couple of hours. Riding solo? Grab a bike, get lost in the trees, and find a quiet spot to catch the sun. It’s got everything you need, and plenty of space to do it in.
Warmoes Biënnale
Sure, you can smell the weed and waffles from a mile away, but you brave the tourist circus for the Warmoes Biënnale. It’s a raw, street-level art takeover by the locals right on one of our oldest streets. Push past the nonsense and go see the real, unfiltered creative pulse of the city.
April Feesten
The Aprilfeesten is a proper neighborhood party. During the day, you let the kids loose on the old-school rides. But when the sun goes down? The night takes over with live music and beers. Out-of-towners are invited, but under one condition: act like you got some sense. Have a drink, enjoy the live music, and respect the locals.
Unique markets
You can’t run a proper street hustle in the freezing cold. Now that spring is here, Amsterdam’s unique markets are rolling up the awnings and opening up shop again. From rare books at Spui to the Sunday food stalls back outside in the parks, this is where the real trade happens. Bring an empty bag and catch the street-level talent while the sun is shining.
Kingsday 2026
Westerpark is prime territory on April 27th. You got the kids setting up shop on a blanket, hustling their old toys for a few euros. You gotta respect the grind. For the adults? The drinks are flowing, the food trucks are firing, and the music doesn’t stop. Bring cash, wear orange, and get in on the action.
