A resident of the esteemed VBX, the Dominican Republic-born selector brings a deep, hypnotic connection to the booth, fueled by a lifelong obsession with the dancefloor and a record collection that spans all corners of the electronic spectrum. Her sound, driven by raw percussion and a sharp instinct for the moment, sets the stage for an evening of multidisciplinary discovery. Joining her is Berlin’s Dana Kuehr, whose sets channel the rugged urgency of Midwest electro through wiggly basslines and playful, high-energy rhythms. This edition also includes a viewing of short film dis.tant in ISO. A Dominican multidisciplinary artist will be showcasing the short film he directed around his third album, Bucle Eterno (Eternal Loop), released under the German label Signal WeltFunk, presented originally through a concept that included dance performances, spatial transformations, and cassettes. It speaks of the impossibility of progress and the illusion of choice. The album deals with the theme of repetition of actions, routine and the different cycles that we face as human beings, in addition to delving into our failed attempts to escape from them. Taking the concept of the loop as a prison into which we logically fall and where escaping is practically impossible as it becomes a comfort zone. The artist uses polyrhythms, poly-melodies and repetitive percussive patterns that fight with improvised melodies, in order to reinforce the concept of the album. These abstract concepts are scattered throughout the production so that we feel a progression between the first and second half of the album, where we go from being imprisoned to feeling the false illusion of freedom, until the cycle repeats itself.
