Erwin – Snoring
I’m not a great sleeper, and a notorious snorer (notesnorious? Sorry). The former only gets worse when I share a bed (not too frequent an occurrence). One time, in an apparent breakthrough, I was sleeping like a baby but not exactly sounding like one. Waking up in a state of bliss, I found my bed partner Anneke looking at me with bloodshot eyes. ‘What the hell are you doing? Are you suffocating?’ she asked, looking both genuinely worried and thoroughly annoyed. I dozed off again, and when next I awoke she was gone. At least she left me a note…
Brian – Sleeping with a sleep walker
My girlfriend Hanneke and I just started dating at the time. I knew she sleep walked, but hadn’t encountered anything super weird yet. So one night we went to bed. In the middle of the night I woke up, because I heard some rustling next to me. I turned around and there she was. Sitting up straight, staring at me with these massive crazy eyes. I started screaming like a little girl. She started screaming back at me. And there we were, screaming at each other for a while. It was like a scene from the movie Paranormal Activity and truly scared the living daylights out of me. Normally if I get scared, my first reaction is to punch someone. Luckily, that didn’t happen yet. But she needs to get some help. Otherwise I’ll go crazy for sure.
Daisy Lee – Sleep cleaning
I do cleaning in my sleep. Afterwards, I wake up confused as to who did it and hope I didn’t throw anything important away.
Babke – Sleep paralysis
I’ve been having serious sleep issues since I was twenty. Especially sleep paralysis is very scary. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and can’t move. I can’t even open my eyes. There are times when I’m kind of stuck between dreaming and being awake. One time I had a nightmare about a man crawling into the bedroom. I tried to shout at my boyfriend to wake him, but I couldn’t move or make any noise. Eventually it was my boyfriend who woke me, because I was crying and squeaking.
Tara – Lucid dreaming
I had lucid dreams a couple of times. This means that in your dream, you’re aware that you’re dreaming. The possibilities are endless, since you can do whatever you want! This doesn’t however mean, that you’re just as smart as in reality. Let me explain. Every time I had a lucid dream, I had the chance to make my wildest dreams come true. Literally. And all I did was jump around a bunch of times. But hey, I did jump really really high.
Bart – Sleep walking
I was about 18 and had a girlfriend at the time. I was spending the night at her parents’ place, as she was still living with them. We went to a party and went to bed somewhat drunk. The next day her parents weren’t amused. As I supposedly had walked into their bedroom (thinking it was the bathroom) and peed in their closet. The relationship didn’t last long.
