As Volkshotel loves new ideas, they were given the freedom to come up with a fresh design. The result was quite surprising.
In the beginning of 2017 they started working in their studio at KRUX, a hatchery in the east of Amsterdam. A couple months later BATONGA was born. There new canopy is inspired by the music video BATONGA of Angelique Kidjo from 1991. You won’t only recognise its colourful elements, but also the blacklight effects. During the night, the BATONGA will come to life.
Francois and Arno worked on several projects together as designduo DUQLAND. Last year they exhibited their work at Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. The wind wasn’t the element that moved the installation, but the guest of the museum had to do the work this time.
The BATONGA is an assemblage of different colourful elements that individually moves. Curious? Feel free to stop by and see the final result.
