Amsterdam Light 💡
This year’s Amsterdam Light Festival is different from other years: there’s no walking route, but there will still be light in the city. Until January the organization places seven light artworks somewhere in the city. Where and when this will take place will not be announced, to avoid crowds. You can check out the locations and information about the artworks via their website.

Glühwalks 🍷
As the name already suggests, Glühwalks combine a walk through the city with several Glühwein take-away stops at local bars and cafes. On their Instagram profile, you can find several routes in different neighborhoods, including “our” Amsterdam East.
Ice skating on Jaap Eden IJsbaan ⛸️
In for some icy fun? The Jaap Eden ice rink in Amsterdam East has a 400-meter outdoor track, where every ice skating fans can indulge themselves. The indoor track is temporarily closed.

Goat farm in Amsterdamse Bos 🐐
In the middle of the Amsterdamse Bos you will find an organic goat farm, where goats, chickens, cows, pigs, a horse run round. At the moment you can’t enter the stable and playground, but it’s still a fun place to visit when you’re around. Besides, the farm shop is still open, which sells goat cheese, dairy, meat, and also delicious organic icecream!

Bike rental & canal ride 🚲
Obvious, but no less fun: rent a bicycle and take a trip along the canals of Amsterdam. With approximately 75 kilometers of ‘grachten’, you should be occupied for a little while. Insiders tip: at Volkshotel you can already rent a bike for 12 euros a day.
Hot tubs in Volkshotel 🛀
What’s better than ending a day full of activities in a hot tub? Exactly, not much. On the rooftop of Volkshotel, you’ll find Badplaats. This is the place to sweat out your hangover in a sauna or hang out till your fingers shrivel in one of the hot tubs. All with a view over the city. Do note that Badplaats is currently only accessible for hotel guests.
Movie screenings in Volkshotel 🎥
Cinephiles will definitely enjoy themselves under our roof. Every day of the week hotel guests are welcome to join us for a movie screening in the Truus/Fransje room, of course with very limited capacity and enough space for everyone.
