In the souterrain of the building, where the concrete meets a high-end sound system, a new chapter is unfolding. With the launch of the 2026 residency program, Doka is moving beyond the standard cycle of weekend bookings, marking an intentional shift toward a « cultural ecosystem » and a long-term commitment to a handpicked network of fifteen artists and collectives. The program serves as a structural and artistic foundation for the club, where residents do not merely fill time slots but actively contribute to the cultural meaning and spatial possibilities of the venue. Throughout the year, these residents will remain a constant presence in the basement, pushing boundaries through unexpected back-to-back sets, immersive all-nighters, and carefully curated invitations that introduce fresh perspectives to the booth.

Foundation of Trust
The selection process for the residency program, led by night programmer Sophie Koffeman, focused on DJs and promoters who already share a deep connection with the space and understand the club’s history. This emphasis on personal relationships is a cornerstone of the 2026 vision. In a club landscape that can often feel transactional, Doka is consciously cultivating a homely (huiselijke) atmosphere. By looking at the person behind the artist, as much as their talent, the club aims to create a unique cosmos where a specific vibe and mutual respect are paramount. The ambition is to program the club in a way that inspires others, contributing to the wider landscape through artistic depth and human connection.

Sonic Signature
The sonic identity of the basement is defined by an uncompromising focus on quality and depth, moving between different shades of electronic music. From warmer, soul-inflected grooves to the deeper, unpolished realms of « diggers » house and techno. Doka provides an atmosphere where artistic layering and development are encouraged. Sounds that prioritize warmth and clarity over raw volume, allowing the soundbar to truly breathe. This approach ensures that the basement remains a sanctuary for « heads » and casual listeners alike, where the nuance of a vinyl-led journey is always at the forefront.

Activating the Space
Beyond acting as a strategic response to the changing dynamics of nightlife and fluctuating visitor numbers, the residency program aims to build a resilient community. By explicitly inviting artists and promoters to explore alternative formats, Doka ensures the basement remains a site for genuine experiment and cultural meeting. This shift marks a definitive public « stamp » on the programming. The 2026 Residency Program is not a season, but a long-term artistic commitment. One that unfolds slowly, intentionally, and in dialogue with the night.
The residents include DJs Suze Ijó, Rob Manga, Eileen, DJ Tracksuit, Orpheu The Wizard, Hannecart, and Pieter Jansen. And promoters Jezabel, Our Society, Steppin’ Into Tomorrow, Ciranda, Unsilenced, Lost Groove, Likeminded, and Polychrome.
