When asked for a tip on what to do in Amsterdam, Egbert could not choose between two things located in Flevopark, so he decided to give them both. « For the little ones among us, there’s Jeugdland (Youth land). Jeugdland is a big adventure playground for children with lots of space to undertake all kinds of activities themselves. Among other things, there’s a huge village of huts where children can participate in building their own. Furthermore, there are a number of labs, a youth lab, a reading lab, a small petting zoo, and a cooking lab, which run all manner of different workshops. Though above all, it’s simply a lovely spot to spend time with children. »

Egbert continues: « For the thirsty among us, there’s Distillery ‘t Nieuwe Diep. This insider tip just might harbor the most beautiful outdoor seating area of Amsterdam. Save to say I agonized for a bit about sharing this secret, but in these hard times, they probably could do with the added revenue. Next to some very tasty homemade ‘fruitjenevers’ (fruit flavored Dutch gin) you can also enjoy a nice cold pint on their amazing terrace, of course. Needless to say, my two tips can be combined perfectly: play first, drink later. I wouldn’t recommend the other way round, haha. »

Who is Egbert?
Some call him « number one », some call him « Eggie », but we just like to call him the pater familias of reception. Born and raised in a hotel in Amsterdam run by his parents, hospitality is his second nature. If he had to name two things he could never miss it would be good beer and board games (don’t let his family read this).
