Volks tips: Amsterdam vintage spots

Hotspots

So you’re in Amsterdam and want to score some cool fashion items to take home? Why not go vintage? Nothing more exciting about finding individual pieces that you won’t see anyone else wearing. Plus, vintage combats the fast-fashion industry, making it a green choice. Check out these vintage spots, recommended by our Volk.

Tijs (PR)

Noordermarkt

This one is for the early birds. Every Monday morning vintage lovers unite on this market. Beautiful items for an honest price. Tip: forget hipster overpriced avocado on toast, grab a typically Dutch lunch at a local butchery, like Comestibles Kinders.

Rataplan

Van Slingelandtstraat 39

Charity shops like Rataplan are filled with hidden gems. Some people might still look at these shops as dirty, but I encourage you to just visit one and get lost in all they has to offer.

Episode

Berenstraat 1

Episode is probably one of the most known second hand clothing shops. With four stores in Amsterdam, it’s quite easy to bump into one. My favorite is the one in de Negen Straatjes.

Vintage kilosale

Havenstraat

Absolute bargains can be found in kilo sales. This one is located in an old tram depot, a little further from the city centre.

Maurice (Werkplaats)

Boven ‘t Y

Buikslotermeerplein 1025

A super ugly shopping centre in Noord, yet great to spend an afternoon walking around in. There’s one nice vintage shop in one of the side streets and also some great charity shops. It’s outside of the city centre so you can really find surprising items.

Kolifleur

Eerste Boomdwarsstraat 2

Second hand shopping all about digging deep into piles of clothing? Not in Kolifleur. This pretty shop offers pre-owned quality items from Isabel Marant and See by Chloé.
