Damage is only reimbursed if it is caused intentionally or through gross negligence on the part of our staff. Our liability is limited to the total amount of your booking. We are not liable for indirect damage (for example when you are unable to work). Volkshotel is not liable for damage, loss or theft of personal belongings. Volkshotel is not liable for complaints arising from third-party services within Volkshotel.
Liability of guests
In the event that you (or one of your guests) causes damage to the hotel, or if a fire alarm is wrongfully set off by you or your guests, you will be held liable for the damage caused. This involves a minimum amount of €150 per claim. If there is a claim for damages, this will be reported to you by our staff. We will deduct the damage amount from your credit card or send an invoice.
Instructions of staff
The instructions of Volkshotel staff must be followed at all times.
The number of guests in a hotel room must be equal to the number of beds. All guests must be checked in.
The guest is aware of camera security in Volkshotel, in the interest of the safety of guests and staff and their belongings.
Delivery services do not have access to the hotel room floors. Products ordered must be picked up by the guest at the lobby. Food delivery has to be picked up in the lobby, the reception does not deliver it to the room.
Time of departure
On the agreed day of departure, rooms shall be vacated by noon at the latest. If the room is not vacated until later, the hotel is entitled to charge for additional use of the room at the rate of 50% of the prevailing price (room list price) until 18:00 and at the rate of 100% after 18:00. In this case, luggage will be removed from the room and put into storage. Volkshotel is not responsible for any loss or damage.
Extremely dirty hotel room
In the case of vacated rooms that are left extremely dirty, an extra cleaning fee of at least €75 will be charged.
Modification Limited Rate (pay now)
This rate lets you modify your booking to other stay dates for €20 per modified night (excluding any potential price difference). You can do this by sending an email to email@example.com. Refunds are not possible. Modifying is possible until 24 hours before your day of arrival. For example: When your arrival day is Friday, you can modify your booking until Wednesday 11:59pm (Amsterdam Time).
Modification / Cancellation Flex Rate (pay on arrival or pay now)
This rate lets you modify or cancel your booking free of charge (excluding any potential price difference for modified nights). You can do this by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Modifying or cancelling is possible until 24 hours before your day of arrival. For example: When your arrival day is Friday, you can modify or cancel your booking until Wednesday 11:59pm (Amsterdam Time).
When you cancel your booking, you will be refunded using the same payment method that the booking was made with. When you modify your booking, any refund will be debited back at the reception.
Parking on our premises is at your own risk.
We only accept payments via bank cards. Eurocard/Mastercard, VISA and most Dutch debit cards. No cheques. €5,- surcharge per night when paying with American Express. It’s also possible to pay contactless. With your phone for example.
Smoking is prohibited inside the entire building, a fine of €150 must be paid per violation. Use your room to relax, dance, sleep or philosophize, but not for smoking. Do you smoke, or do you mess with the smoke alarm? That will cost you €150.
Food & drinks
Self brought food and drinks may not be consumed in the public areas of the Volkshotel.
Drugs & prostitution
Prostitution, use, and possession of hard drugs and/or trade in hard and soft drugs are not allowed in Volkshotel and lead to immediate termination of the stay and removal from Volkshotel without refund of the costs already paid.
House rules of Canvas & Doka
Volkshotel welcomes everyone at night who is open-minded and has a respectful attitude towards everyone. The minimum age is 18+ years. Volkshotel can refuse entry to people, in possession of an entrance ticket or not. Visitors may be searched.
Harassment and undesirable behavior
Volkshotel reserves the right to deny people access to Volkshotel for a certain period of time or to immediately evict them from Volkshotel without refund of costs already paid, if they:
- Cause nuisance and/or displaying insulting or discriminatory behavior towards other guests, employees or neighbors;
- Use the hotel room in any way that deviates from the normal use of a hotel room
If Volkshotel deems it necessary, the group to which the nuisance person(s) belongs can also be expelled, regardless of whether other persons within that group have caused nuisance, without reimbursement of costs already paid.
Tenant’s responsibility in the event of nuisance & undesirable behavior
The tenant of (meeting) rooms is responsible for the behavior of his or her guests. The tenant cannot claim compensation in the event of eviction due to nuisance. In the event of eviction, the tenant must pay the rent of the (meeting) room, any bar guarantee and other lost turnover. Volkshotel will, however, deduct an amount for the not incurred purchase costs of drinks.
In the unlikely event that any dispute may arise, it will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent court in Amsterdam.
Circumstances which cannot be attributed to the Volkshotel, which are of such a nature that compliance to the agreement cannot reasonably be asked or not in its full extent (such as, but not limited to (i) extreme weather, (ii) revocation of one or more permits, (iii) epidemics and pandemics and governmental measures announced by the government for that reason and (iv) national mourning) gives the right to the Volkshotel to dissolve the assignment in whole or in part and/or to suspend its execution without any obligation for damages. In that case, the Volkshotel reserves the right to reimbursement (including, but not limited to the amount of the reserve value, plus the costs for third parties made by Volkshotel). Volkshotel advises the clients and hotel guests to be insured against these risks. An appeal to discontinuation by the client/hotel guests due to force majeure is excluded. The aforementioned does not affect the applicable cancellation conditions.
