With its industrial warehouses and urban beaches, Amsterdam North can be described as the more raw part of the city. Just a small hop on the free ferry and you’re there. Fransje especially loves to wander between the old garage shops and “no man’s land” derelict spaces. But her favourite spot to stop and soak it in is cafe Waargenoegen (the name is quite the mouthful).
Waargenoegen is filled with a bundle of eclectic vintage furniture and it’s all for sale. They serve “the best apple pie, good coffee and healthy shakes. You usually have to wait a while, but it’s worth it and it naturally slows you down”. And a break might be just what you need if you find yourself amongst the neighbouring vintage furniture warehouses: Neef Louis, Dijk & co and Blom & Blom.
Amsterdam North is constantly developing, from unusual shipping containers to slick hotels and soon to house one of the tallest wooden buildings in the Netherlands, Patch 22.
As well as one of our banqueting & sales women, she is an energetic and enthusiastic ball of chaotic joy. She has an extreme love for being outdoors and sees nature as her playground.
