I love to walk around in my boyfriends cosy sweaters. They are comfi, oversized and match perfect with a pair of skinny jeans and sneakers. At the same time he takes his turn stealing my oversized rolling stones tee. I find it very interesting to see that brands are responding to the fact standards and rules in fashion are changing.
Nobody Has To Know
Jiske and Hannah are two Amsterdam girls with a shared passion for fashion but with the urge to twist the rules. They are also the designers of NHTK, an Amsterdam based brand founded in 2014 with a vision to change the fashion ideals. I got to know them about a year ago when I accidentally walked into their pop-up shop at Zeedijk. Impressed with their clean cuts and 90s inspired shapes, they put together an amazing collection. I think it is really cool that NHTK supports the local environment in Amsterdam, working together with social work places to produce part of their designs, and making sure that all clothes are made and produced in Amsterdam.
Snoop Around
NHTK started out with a few shop-in-shop locations in Utrecht and Amsterdam, opening their very own shop last March located in the cosy ‘De Pijp’ area in the South of Amsterdam. When walking through their shop you don’t have to look for the male or female section because it is all mixed-up. Instead the items are very nicely sorted in color. Since they don’t do sizes you won’t find anything but the price on the tag. You see something you like? Just try it on and see for yourself if it looks good. I recently bought a beautiful woolen cardigan there, which I also share with my boyfriend
sometimes.
As long as something looks good on you, it doesn’t really matter who it was made for originally right? Just wear what you love!

About Suzanne
Suzanne Smulders (30) recently started LENA the fashion library, a place where you can borrow a great selection of vintage clothing and local designers. For Volkshotel she’ll write about fashion. Things that are new, things that are different, things that are a must see…. and things that just caught her eye.
